Can you really view a property without being physically present? Kampmeyer now makes it possible with the help of Sam, a robot that can be remotely controlled via the internet.

Since 2011, the innovative brokerage company has been providing virtual 360° tours to facilitate the renting and selling of real estate. With Sam, the property-showing robot, the agency is now going one step further.

“Sam is turning open houses into a digital experience,” says Roland Kampmeyer, founder and CEO of Kampmeyer Immobilien, which has offices in Cologne, Bonn and Düsseldorf. “Our customers can drive the robot through a property from anywhere in the world making it easy for them to gain a first impression.”

Sam was developed by a start-up; it is a non-humanoid robot about 5′7″ tall and is equipped with a high-resolution camera and numerous sensors.

There is no need to download any software or install an app to be able to drive the robot through a property. “When you want to view a property, you simply book a free, no-obligation appointment online. You receive a link with which you can easily access Sam using a computer, smartphone or tablet,” says Kampmeyer. “The robot can be moved in all directions and the camera can be swivelled back and forth very easily.”

“We want to offer our customers and business partners the opportunity to view a property safely, especially in times of social distancing, but also in the future.” But why Sam when other virtual technologies already exist and are being used? “Particularly during periods of restricted movement, this robot gives interested parties the opportunity to personally view the property and experience it at various times of the day with changing daylight.”

In the future, the client will be able to take Sam into almost every corner of a property. Weighing in at only 11 lbs, the robot is easy to transport and can be used wherever live transmission of a real estate property is desired. Moreover, the robot can help the human agents communicate remotely with their clients. In this way, Sam is opening up new horizons and a completely new real estate world.
